Use of the Waukarusa river as a recreational resource to the community may be closer to reality now. This project, a joint venture of the "Friends of the Waukarusa" and the CDC recently received approval from the City of Mount Carroll to begin work on Phase I of this development. Very exciting! Work on the North facade of the Kraft building continues. Cleaning old paint off of the metal facade  has been completed and new metalwork and molded fiberglass pieces have been fabricated and put in place to repair the missing components that have been damaged or removed over the years. Next is the sealing of all joints and then the painting begins. There will be four separate coats of paint. Two primer coats and two top coats plus some highlighting brush work will be done to complete the final four color palette  that will grace the building. The design and colors will create an 1800's era "painted lady" appearance.
